Nchang population welcome Rehabilitated Water scheme

The problem of water scarcity in Nchang in the Mamfe Municipality is now a thing of the past. This is thanks to the rehabilitation of the Nchang water supply scheme by the Mamfe Council. The project to the tune of 10 million FCFA consist of a bore hole powered by solar energy with a water tower and reservoir.

The hydrogeologic nature of the area is such that drilling will be done in unconsolidated and hard formations and consequently requiring
the use of a well equipped drilling rig in order to face any eventuality.

The borehole facilitate the extraction of water from deep aquifers in fractured hardrocks, thereby making it possible to prevent pollution from superficial waters. Precautions are therefore taken to isolate superficial formations so as to avoid the vertical downward propagation
of superficial pollution.

For decades, the people of Nchang have depended on “Barrack” and other streams for their water needs. A situation which has been worsened by epileptic water supply from the state utility company CAMWATER.

According to the Mayor Tabenchong Robertson Ashu, the rehabilitation of the water scheme comes as a sigh of relief to the population.

The Nchang water project will not only be useful to the community as it could serve neighboring villages with portable drinking water.

Through this project, the Mamfe Council with its Mayor Tabenchong Robertson Ashu reiterates it’s commitment to continue meeting the aspirations of the population.
